As a method for non-verbal expression or decoration of movements in social robots, we explored the use of olfactory displays, i.e., smells. In this study, we made two prototype devices, which enable a humanoid robot to present different types of smells during its movements. Furthermore, we tested whether robots equipped with these devices could influence humans’ impression. Results suggest that robot’s smell may affect the impression given to humans.
